TRA releases International Visitor Survey

Tourism Research Australia has released the results of their International Visitor Survey (IVS) for the year ending September 2019 showed that Visitors, Visitor Nights and Expenditure demonstrated growth overall, however on a market by market basis we are seeing some concerning trends. The report showed that there was a significant decline in our fourth largest visitor market, United Kingdom with visitors down 4.3%, nights down 7.4% and expenditure down 4.8%. There was flat growth in New Zealand visitor nights (0.6%) and in USA visitor nights (0.9%).

In terms of performance of the Capital City Accommodation Market, Perth, Adelaide, Hobart and Darwin continued to show significant declines in visitor nights across all accommodation, with Hobart showing the biggest decline of 30.1%.
